Sri Mohanlal was born on May 21, 1960 in Pathanamthitta district of Kerala State (India) to Sri Viswanathan Nair and Smt. Santhakumari. He also had an elder brother named Pyare Lal. His brother is now no more. His father is an advocate. In his mother's own words, 'quite, a very quite child' is how we can characterize young Mohanlal. He did his schooling from Mudavanmukal School and Model School (Thiruvananthapuram) and completed his BCom from M.G. College (Thiruvananthapuram)... 






V K Krishna Menon Former Defence Minister of India and renowned Statesman. Born on 3rd May , 1896 at Panniyankara near Kozhikode. After school education at Thalassery and Kozhikode, he pursued higher education at Zamorin’s College, Kozhikode and Presidency College, Madras and took B.A. degree in History and Economics. After Independence Menon was sent to different foreign countries to pursue diplomatic relations. He worked as Indian High Commissioner in London from 1947 to 1952...

Shri Kocheril Raman Narayanan assumed office as President of India on MAY 25, 1997. He was born on MAY 27, 1920 in the village of Uzhavoor in Kottayam district, Kerala. Sri. Narayanan started his career as a Lecturer in the University of Travancore (1943). Later he took to journalism and worked with The Hindu, Madras (now Chennai) and Times of India, Bombay (now Mumbai - 1944-45). Shri Narayanan has been associated with several institutions in diverse capacities. The President received the World Statesman Award of The Appeal of Conscience Foundation, New York in 1998...


Raja Ravi Varma (1848-1906) was born in Kilimanoor Palace as the son of Umamba Thampuratti and Neelakandan Bhattathiripad. At the age of seven years he started drawing on the palace walls using charcoal. His uncle Raja Raja Varma noticed the talent of the child and gave preliminary lessons on painting. At the age of 14, Ayilyam Thirunal Maharaja took him to Travancore Palace and was taught water painting by the palace painter Rama Swamy Naidu. 




Adoor Gopalakrishnan One of the leading lights of the New Indian Cinema, was born in 1941. He started acting on the amateur stage at the early age of eight, and wrote and directed over twenty Plays in his student days. His first film, Swayamvaram won the national awards for best film, best director, best cameraman, and best actress setting a record of sorts. He has won the national award for best director four times, and best script writer thrice.




KJ Yesudas was born in Fort Cochin on MAY 10th, 1940 to the musician and stage actor Mr. Marchine Joseph Bagavathor and Mrs. Alikutty Joseph. His father spotted his musical talent at a very young age, and became his first guru at the age of 5 giving him the early musical lessons. His devotion to music, determination and hard work enabled him to become the best student in the Music School. In 1961 he sang his first song for the Malayalam film, Kaalppadukal, which was a big hit... 


M. T. Vasudevan Nair, one of the most respected Indian writers today, was born on MAY 15, 1934 in Kudallur, a small village in Palakkad district, Kerala.
